Winchester City FC granted permission for brand new 4G pitch

WINCHESTER City FC have been successful in their application to convert the existing grass pitch to a 4G pitch.

‘Provision of an artificial grass pitch, floodlighting, new and relocated stands, storage container, vehicular access replacement and extension of parking area and ancillary works’ is the request made by Calum Drummond in his application.

The Winchester City Flyers and Winchester City FC are scheduled to use the facilities.

The project has been in the works for a while, and the Football Foundation and Winchester City Council have contributed money to it. It is anticipated to cost a total of about £1 million.

After being promoted in 2022, Winchester City FC is currently a member of the Southern League Premier Division South.

This allows the club to avoid further postponements due to the current pitch being waterlogged. The new pitch is also expected to help the team play their brand of football.

Ryan Pryce says “When we go away to nice pitches, we always do well, it’s a shame that we can’t always replicate this at home.”

Henry Brooks also said “It means that the youth team and the first team can crack down on the type of football that we want to play.”
