THE Solent Ravens cheerleading squad are putting their finishing touches on their big routine as they prepare for an up and coming event in Manchester this month.
Every Friday, the Ravens get to work in the Solent Sports Complex, practicing lifts, twists and continuing to build rapport as they edge closer to their competition, being held at Manchester Central Arena this weekend.
As the countdown to the tournament begins, the pressure begins to build for the Ravens, but they are not letting it get to them, as after every fall, they are always straight back up again.
Every second of practice counts, as each missed throw, lapse in concentration and even a wardrobe malfunction can lose the team vital points.
That is why the team is carefully selected, to ensure the team can reach it’s potential, however, no previous cheerleading experience is needed, as the Ravens value personality over skill.
Each rep means the team can gain valuable experience and knowledge, which can be key at national competitions.
Some believe that cheerleading is easy, however, it’s far more difficult than it seems at first glance, with it’s demanding physicality and cardio needed to compete safely and successfully.
So, as the competition date closes in, the Ravens need to rally together ahead of the big day.
