TONIGHT, a jubilant Frank Lampard will return to his old stomping ground, as in-form Coventry City face struggling Derby County at Pride Park.
Lampard took over at Coventry in November with the side having just relieved club legend Mark Robins of his duties, with the former Chelsea midfielder looking to recover his reputation as a head coach.
He started his managerial career in the East Midlands taking the reins in 2018 at The Rams ready to prove himself, and prove himself he did, taking them to the play-off final where they lost out to Aston Villa 2-1 at Wembley. Lampard then subsequently took the job at Chelsea, leaving Derby after just a season in charge.
Tonight will be the first time Lampard will return to Pride Park as an opposition manager, and he’s chosen the perfect time to be back, with his Coventry team on a nine-match winning streak, their best run in the Championship since the 1969/70 season.
However, they may be without their star defender Milan van Ewijk who is suspected to miss out via injury, something that has caused concern amongst fans.
They may find some comfort in the fact that Derby County sit in the bottom three having scored just 35 goals this season, with top goal scorer Jerry Yates on eight goals so far this campaign.
Can Frank Lampard turn Pride Park into Embarrassment Central as Coventry look to add another win to their record in their recent play-off push?
