Tammy Beaumont returns to England T20 squad after almost two years absent

England announce that Tammy Beaumont is set to return to the England T20 side after two years away from the format.

Beaumont sits on 99 iT20 caps and has been selected in both of the short-format squads for England’s tour of New Zealand in March.

14:45pm – New rock climbing competition begins in Southampton

THE Mega Series 2024 has begun at Bouldershack climbing gym in Southampton.

This is a competition that brings together some of the most prestige climbers in Hampshire.

It is an event that lasts the whole calendar year with The Grand Final taking place on 7th December.

14:40pm – Man Utd to increase season ticket price by 5% next season

Manchester United are set to increase their prices of season tickets by 5% for the 2024/25 season.

While still unconfirmed by the club, The Athletics’ Omar Garrick reports the club has done this to reflect the growing matchday costs, and assist with financial fair play rules.

This is the first decision under Sir Jim Radcliff’s majority ownership of the Red Devils, which was finalised in January.

14:35pm – Haas begin F1 launch season announcing new VF-24 car

Haas have began the F1 launch season, unveiling their new predominantly black livery car for the 2024 season, but the team are already downplaying expectations.

Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen will drive the new car, which is an evolution from last season’s machine that finished bottom of the Constructors’ Championship.

A disappointing 2023 campaign led to a change of team principal for Haas, with the hugely popular Guenther Steiner making way for Ayao Komatsu.

14:30pm – Devils seek vengeance against league leader RedHawks.

The Solent Devils Ice Hockey team are back on the rink for the first time since their 3-0 loss to Streatham two weeks ago on the 21st of January.

The Devils had last weekend off due to missing out on qualifying for the semi finals of the Britton cup.

It was an end of an era for the University team this week as the team played their last game in Varsity as graduates and it was considered as a an emotional time as the graduates bid a farewell to the Redhawks.

SAID BENHRAMA SET TO JOIN OLYMPIQUE LYON

West Ham winger Said Benhrama looks set to join Olympique Lyon after all.

Fabrizio Romano reports that FIFA granted OL permission to appeal for Benhrama, and the Hammers matched the TMS a few minutes ago.

OL will finally be able to complete the move for Benhrama, estimated to be in the region of £15m

The Algerian winger was still waiting in Lyon after West Ham failed to submit the paperwork before yesterdays 11pm deadline.

14:15pm – Wolf ‘ It was not a surprise’ against Hamilton exit from Mercedes.

Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolf admitted that Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was not surprising and he holds ‘no grudge’ against the British driver.

The news broke on Thursday that the 7x world champion is set to leave Mercedes and join Ferrari at the end of the 2024 season.

Hamilton has been offered a multi-year deal with Ferrari, that will keep him on the track until 2026.

13:55pm – PL January spending down £715m compared to last year.

Spending by Premier League clubs fell significantly after three record-breaking transfer windows, with teams spending £715m less than last year.

Just £30m was spent on deadline day, another massive drop from the £285m spent in January 2023.

There were only 17 permanent transfers made by Premier League clubs during the window, with a further 13 loan deals – including seven permanent and six loan deals on deadline day.

Kobbie Mainoo’s first Manchester United goal sealed a remarkable 4-3 win over Wolverhampton Wonderers last night.

The 18-year-old told TNT sports after the game: “It’s like a dream come true” following his winner at the Molineux.

COLIN GRAVES SET TO RETURN TO YORKSHIRE CC

Colin Graves’ controversial return back to Yorkshire has been approved by club members.

Graves was Yorkshire’s “only viable option” according to the England and Wales Cricket Board, with the club stricken for cash and facing administration.

Yorkshire were fined £400,000 for failing to address the systemic use of racist or discriminatory language while Graves was chairman.

The 75-year-old says he did not witness any racism while he was in charge.

Michael Smith silences the ‘imbecilic’ whistlers defeating Gerwyn Price 6-2 on the opening night of the darts premier league season.

The St Helens star defeated Michael Van Gerwen and teenage-sensation Luke Littler on his way to the final.

But the story of the night, was the one or two individuals in the crowd who whistled in an attempt to put players off.

Schalke could face administration if relegated from Bundasliga 2. this season.

Sky Germany reports that the German side simply wont be able to handle the financial consequences if relegated to the third division.

10:40am – Ex Man-Utd midfielder set for shock move to South Korea

Ex Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is set for a shock move to South Korea side FC Seoul.

Lingard left Old Trafford after his contract expired at the end of last season.

The 31-year-old had a forgettable season with premier league side Nottingham Forest last year, and has been a free-agent since.

10:20am – Olympique Lyon Slam West Ham over failed Said Benhrama deal

Olympique Lyon have furiously hit out at West Ham after their deadline day move for Said Benhrama collapsed.

The 28-year-old was set to join the Ligue 1 side on Thursday for a fee of around £15m.

However, an ‘admin error’ on West Ham’s side meant the paperwork was not completed before the 11pm deadline.

10:03am – ENGLAND VS INDIA SCORE UPDATE

We enter the final hour of day one of the second test match between England and India in Visakhapatnam.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat, currently sitting comfortably at 277-4.

Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal is not out on 155, while England debutant Shoaib Bashir dismissed Rohit Sharma for his first test wicket.
