Kansas City Chiefs on verge of making NFL history

THE Kansas City Chiefs could make history this Sunday by becoming the first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl title three times in a row.

The most recent occasion of back-to-back titles was the New England Patriots winning in 2003 and 2004 before being stopped by the Denver Broncos as they lost in the AFC conference playoffs.

This achievement is known in the NFL community as the ‘three-peat’, with there being eight different occasions where a team has won the Lombardi Trophy back-to-back.

The NFC champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, who last won the Super Bowl title in 2017 stand in the Chiefs’ way. on Sunday night in Super Bowl 59.

The Eagles demolished an impressive Washington Commanders side 55-23, who were spearheaded by rookie quaterback Jayden Daniels, who’s had an impressive season.

The Chiefs were able to beat the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC conference final, but it wasn’t without its controversy, with many NFL fans believing the referee’s have favoured Kansas City when it comes to key calls.

Philadelphia could be without defensive tackle Jalen Carter as he is rumoured to be missing out with illness alongside three or four more.

However, it isn’t all bad news as Saquon Barkley, who won Offensive Player of the Year is going to be available, and has the most rushing yards out of anyone in the league, with 2,005.

For Kansas City they will be looking to go through star quaterback Patrick Mahomes, who has been able to throw 3,928 yards so far this season.

A few people will be looking out for Travis Kelce as well this Sunday who is rumoured to be proposing to singer Taylor Swift if the Chiefs do win.
