IT is inclusivity and diversity week!
The Hampshire Harriers are a wheelchair basketball team and charity, formed in 1980.
Described as an ‘all-inclusive club’ the Harriers promote wheelchair basketball and provide an opportunity for people with disabilities to play.
They also welcome able-bodied people into the team, enabling parents, children, and friends to play together and form a wider friendship group.
Current club members range from the ages of 11-70 and are trained by experienced coaching staff with national experience.
The club also fields two competitive teams, competing regionally and nationally in the British Wheelchair Basketball League.
The club deliberately keeps playing fees low to maximize the accessibility of this amazing sport.
Players pay just £35 per month for eight training/playing sessions across four week months – with the balance of funds coming from community fundraising and business donations.
This year, the club also gained a new sponsor, Beyond Retail, who provided them with brand-new home and away kits for the season.
To celebrate the week, we got exclusive access to film a Harriers training session.
