Barcelona 6-1 PSG: Where are the winners now?

BARCELONA and PSG are set to play each other tonight in the second leg of their champions league quarter final tie in which the first ended 3-2 to Barça

In the past, this match has provided one of the greatest Champions League comebacks in the history of the competition with Barcelona having to over turn a four goal deficit.

The 95th minute winner from Sergi Roberto completed the comeback in the most dramatic way as going Into the match, they were 4-0 down.

So where is the squad that overcame the impossible challenge and won from 4-0 down to one of Europes giants?

The Squad

Mark Andre Ter Stegen – The German keeper is one of two players from the Barcelona squad to still be at the club to this day and is also the German number one.

Javier Mascherano – The Argentinian veteran retired in 2020 having only scored two goals at club level in his whole career. he scored more goal for Argentina (3) than he did for the various clubs he played at.

Gerard Pique – He retired at Barcelona in 2022 and set up The Kings League which is a seven a side league played ion by internet personalities and ex footballers.

Samuel Umtiti – Has since gone on to win the World Cup with France and is now playing football in his home country with Lille

Sergio Busquets – Is now playing for Inter Miami with a few of his former Barcelona teammates and is still as cool as ever on the ball.

Ivan Rakitic – He left Barca in 2020 for Sevilla, had a four year stint there and has now moved to Al Shabab in Saudi Arabia

Andres Iniesta – He was the captain of this Barcelona side and one of their most iconic players playing 442 senior games. he is now at Emirates Club in the UAE League.

Lionel Messi – His 50th minute penalty in the 6-1 was a crucial goal that made the fans believe that they could actually come back. He is now at Inter Miami and has won the Ballon d’Or three times since this game.

Rafinha – In 2020, Rafinha left Barcelona to go to PSG. He has had various loans over his career but is now at Al-Arabi and has been there since 2022

Luis Suarez The Uruguayan scored the first goal in the famous tie and is now playing alongside Messi, Busquets and Jordi Alba at Inter Miami

Neymar – In the last 10 minutes of the game, Neymar scored two goals and provided the assist for Roberto’s winning volley. The Brazilian is now based in Saudi Arabia where he plays for Al Hilal.

Substitutes

Arda Turan – Turan retired from football in 2022 but has now gone into management as he is the coach for Eyupspor in the Turkish league

Sergi Roberto – Roberto was subbed on in the 75th minute and might go down as one of the most important substitutes in champions league history as he scored the winning goal. he is still at Barcelona and is the club Captain.

Paco Alcacer – He left Barcelona in 2019 but is now on loan at Emirates and is playing football with Andres Iniesta.

Tonights game isn’t set up like the famous game in the 2016/17 season, but there is still a comeback that has to be made but this one will require PSG to come back after a 2-3 defeat in Paris.

The match is set to be played in the Camp Nou and will hopefully be another classic Champions League knockout matchup.
