Spanish international and Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is set to leave the club after nine years.
It is being widely reported that Dani Ceballos is set to leave Real Madrid this summer, with links to Ajax and Marseille resurfacing.
Real Madrid’s midfield has historically been stacked, with the likes of Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Luka Modric combining as a dominant force for years.
When Dani signed for the club way back in 2017, the aforementioned dynamic trio were unbreakable, and even saw the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Isco and others sidelined as a result – many of whom have gone on to become stars for their current sides.
Ceballos has never quite managed to make a name for himself at the Bernabeu, despite his long-standing loyalty to the club.
Leaving to join Arsenal on loan for a year back in 2019 presented itself as an opportunity for the Spaniard; however, that move too was unfruitful, with the loanee failing to secure a consistent amount of game time in the Premier League.
Whilst it is reported that he loves Madrid, he will be hoping to secure a move to a club where he can truly stand out and reignite his career.
Despite a lack of gametime outside of being a rotation option at a club that signs the very best of the best, Dani won 14 trophies with Madrid, including three Champions Leagues, three Club World Cups and two La Liga titles.
With competition in Jude Bellingham, Camavinga, Guler and Fede Valverde (just to name a few), it certainly seems the right time for Ceballos to move on and remind people of his ability elsewhere.
It will be interesting to see who makes a move for him in the summer, as he has a lot of quality to bring to the table.
