Unai Emery reaches managerial milestone

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has broken a Aston Villa record after their One-nil win against Lille in the Europa League round of 16 last night.

The 54 year old has the best win ratio in the club’s history at a staggering 55.2% according to Opta, and is only one of only three managers to achieve 100 wins for their respected club during the time Emery has been at Villa.

Emery has become the quickest of three men, Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola to reach 100 wins. His tally of 100 wins in 181 games is the most successful in club history, overtaking the record formerly held by Ron Saunders.

Ron Saunders led the Villans out of the former second division and twice won the League Cup and delivered their first top flight title in 71 years in the 1980-1981 season and was one of main reasons for Villa’s European Cup glory.

Villa sit fourth in the Premier League, while also looking in fine form, winning their first leg fixture in the Europa league.
