Danny Röhl reveals comparison of Rangers deadline day signing Naderi to Woltemade

RANGERS boss, Danny Röhl, said that German coaches compared Rangers’ £4.7m deadline day signing Ryan Naderi to Nick Woltemade and Fredi Bobic.

Rangers announced the 22-year-old from Hansa Rostock on a long-term deal just past midnight as Rangers’ fourth and final signing of the January transfer window.

Once Naderi was unveiled, Röhl revealed that his new number 20 has been compared to Newcastle’s £63m signing Nick Woltemade.

“I spoke to some coaches from Germany and I got a lot of messages congratulating us on a good signing.

“They compare him between former player Fredi Bobic and Woltemade. If he can bring this level here we will have a lot of fun with him.”

The comparison between the two could be from their height with Naderi standing at 6’4″, just two inches shorter than Newcastle United’s Woltemade.

The German has scored eight goals with four assists in 18 matches for ‘Die Cogg’ in the third division in Germany, 3. Liga.

Naderi joins winger Andreas Skov Olsen, defender Turr Rommens and midfielder Tochi Chukwuani as the ‘Gers four January incomings alongside three outgoings on loan and Joe Rothwell’s permanent departure to Sheffield United.

Feeling well prepared for the remainder of the season, Röhl commented:

“We made good signings with potential. We made some good decisions of what we moved out where we were not convinced it was helpful for the future.

“I totally believe we can win a lot games until the end of the season but I can’t give you the guarantee today that we win 14 games because that’s the level of the opponent.”

Rangers sit third in the Scottish Premiership, level on points with Celtic and six points behind the league leaders Hearts.
