Four transfers you may have missed this January

WITH just over 72 hours until the January transfer window slams shut, here’s 5 signings that may have flown under the radar.

James Ward-Prowse > Burnley (Loan)

In a bid for their Premier League survival, Burnley have opted to implement some experience into their midfield ranks. Following a 12 year spell at Southampton, Ward-Prowse hasn’t quite solidified a spot in West Ham’s plans, resulting in a loan out to Nottingham Forest, and now Burnley.

The 31-year-old not only brings bags of experience but also set-piece precision and leadership qualities too. Struggling for game time in East London, this move makes sense for all involved.

Buyers Burnley sit just 5 points below their sellers, and Claret’s manager Scott Parker feels West Ham may have just given their relegation rivals a helping hand.

“He brings an all round game. It would be unfair of me to only compliment James’ ability on set plays – but, for Suer, he will give us an added something in the area. That side of the game has gone up tenfold.”

Adama Traore > West Ham

Best known for his blistering pace and glistening muscles, the Spanish winger made a permanent move from the West to the East side of London this month.

The speedy powerhouse only made one start for Fulham this season, making 14 appearances from the bench. While his output can be questioned, failing to register a goal or assist since May, his pace cannot be.

With a cheap fee of under £2m, many may turn a blind eye to this bit of business, but his underrated ability to tear past defenders could be extremely useful for the Irons in their survival charge.

Jack Harrison > Fiorentina

An unlikely move for the English winger, as he trades the grit of Yorkshire for the glamour of Florence. The Italian outfit currently sit in the drop zone of Serie A, who are facing the prospect of their first relegation in over 25 years.

In search of regular form and game time, Harrison has had multiple loans out to Everton, who opted not to sign the player permanently, hence his unusual move to Serie A.

Harrison spoke on how he’s settling in to life in Italy. “It’s fantastic to be here. I’m very happy and hope to contribute to the team between now and the end of the season.”

Douglas Luiz > Aston Villa (Loan)

Having left the Villain’s for Juventus in 2024 following an infamous 5 year spell in the midlands, the Brazilian made a dramatic return to Villa Park this month.

The deal includes an option to buy should Emery choose to reunite permanently with the midfielder, who spent the first half of this season on loan at Nottingham Forest. However, 3 different managers and a period of uncertainty at the City meant he was recalled by Juventus before returning home to Aston Villa.
