THE Solent Cricket team have hosted their final trials before a return to action after a comfortable mid table finish last season, but are yet to choose a new captain for the upcoming campaign.
Solent Cricket had managed to win all away games last season and had the biggest trials for a couple of years. Coach Tom Morton suggested the void former captain Callum Harvey has left can be filled by other players stepping up.
Morton said: “Callum graduated this year and he’s had a really good season, he ended up getting twelve wickets in the final in the national county’s competition, so he’s really kicked on.
“It’s just about other players stepping up and trying to fill some of those overs and innings that he played and I’m sure the lads can do that.”
One of the new trialists Noah James who aims to help fill the void left, assessed his best personal performance.
James said: ” My best was when I made 50 (runs) against a team back home, I really tried and didn’t get the best start, but in the end it all paid off.
