Thomas Tuchel ‘very happy’ with players after first two games in charge

THOMAS Tuchel has said he’s ‘very happy’ with his players after leading England to two wins from his first two in charge.

The German has overseen a faultless start to life as manager with his side scoring five, without reply, across two games against Albania and Latvia respectively.

“I am very happy with the players mainly, but also the staff and the organisation of the camp. It was amazing but the players made the difference, as always,” he said.

“They reminded me instantly why I was excited about this job- because of these players. Top characters very, very good group,” he added.

As expected England were dominant in both ties. But it’ll be the performance of the squad as a whole that will please the former Bayern gaffer.

Because as Gareth Southgate will tell you, it’s one thing being expected to win but it’s a whole different question actually getting over the line.

Tuchel’s decision to name Arsenal left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly in his squad paid dividends.

The youngster bagged a debut goal agianst Albania on Friday and impressed again when he was given his second consecutive start last night.

Tuchel’s is here for the short term. He has one job… Win.
