McGregor panders to Trump to ‘celebrate’ St Patrick’s Day

NOTORIOUS’ Irish MMA fighter, Connor McGregor visited Donald Trump in the White House yesterday in celebration of St Patrick’s Day.

The pair were seen cosied up together posing for a photo as they contested on who could suck up to the other one more: McGregor or the US government.

McGregor admired Trump calling his work ethic “inspiring” and US Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declared: “We couldn’t think of a better guest to have with us on St Patrick’s Day.”

Questions have been raised as to why a fighter found guilty of sexual assault last year was seen as the perfect person to celebrate St Patrick’s Day, perhaps it was so he and the President had some common ground.

Both men were ordered to pay hefty sums to their victims by the court and yet their influence is if anything bigger than ever as their controversial characters are swept under the White House carpet.

It’s no shock President Trump named McGregor as his favourite Irish person.

The fighter regards himself as ‘notorious’, but maybe it’s not for all the right reasons.

Unsurprisingly, the pair also agreed on the need to crackdown on “illegal immigration” as the fighter accused the Irish government of “abandoning the voices of the people”.

Prime Minister, Micheál Martin hit back at McGregor’s statements, labelling them “wrong”. Retired since 2021 after losing back-to-back fights, he unfortunately won’t allow himself to fade into the background.

One thing’s for certain, I’m sure Ireland’s patron saint Patrick, said to stand for unity, wouldn’t have minded if this fighter had been knocked out.
