Will Arsenal Cope With Edu Exit?

ARSENAL’S sporting director Edu, has left the club following a move to rivals Nottingham Forrest.

Edu joined Arsenal in July 2019 and went on to help rebuild the club with numerous signings as well as the current manager, Mikel Arteta.

He has played a significant role in the progression of the club, who have ultimately been transformed from what they were 5 years ago.

His resignation has left many fans shocked, especially as he has left to join a Premier League rival.

What Did He Do At Arsenal?

His tenure as sporting director started off with two consecutive 8th place finishes, in what was a period of strong rebuilding for the club.

In that time he has signed star players such as Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli and Declan Rice.

All of these players have gone on to perform big for the Gunners and have cemented themselves as starters within the squad.

However, Edu has made some obvious blunders in the market with signings such as: Nicholas Pepe, David Luiz and Willian all coming to the Emirates within his tenure.

David Luiz joined from Chelsea in 2019 for £8 million

All together these flops cost Arsenal £80 million as well as crucial points in Premier League games.

Overall, Edu has been a success at the gunners as they have improved year by year and have comfortably finished 2nd place in back to back years.

What’s Next For Arsenal?

Arsenal have been struggling in the league as of late taking only one point from their last three games.

The gunners will now be looking toward getting a new sporting director for the coming seasons, ideally someone who is of the same calibre as the Brazilian.

It remains to be seen what sort of impact Edu’s exit will have on the club but fans of the club will be left wondering what will happen in the coming months.

Only time will tell as the gunners face Chelsea on Sunday in what will be a crucial game to keep them in with a chance of the title.
