Who Will Win the Premier League? Title Race Enters Dramatic Final Stretch

The 2025–26 Premier League title race has become one of the tightest in recent memory, with Manchester City and Arsenal locked level on 70 points with only five games to go.

Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday boosted their hopes – and a 1-0 victory at Burnley on Wednesday sent them top.

“It’s a new league now,” says Mikel Arteta, the manager of the Gunners, whose team had led the league for 209 days prior to Wednesday.

BBC Sport have got pundits to predict how the rest of the games will go.

Shamoon Hafez predicts Manchester City will win the league. His prediction for City’s last five games are:

Everton 0-3 Manchester City, Manchester City 3-1 Brentford, Bournemouth 1-1 Manchester City, Manchester City 3- Crystal Palace, Manchester City 3-1 Aston Villa.

His estimation for Arsenals last five games:

Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle, Arsenal 2-0 Fulham, West Ham 1-1 Arsenal, Arsenal 4-0 Burnley, Crystal Palace 0-2 Arsenal.

BBC reporter Shamoon Hafez says “The handbrake is about to come off.

“With the title on the line, both teams will be free-scoring in the final five games of the Premier League campaign. They won’t have flawless records – there will be a draw apiece and results will dictate both teams ending up with the same goal difference of +46. Although Manchester City have a tougher run-in than Arsenal on paper, their know-how in terms of getting the job done during a tight race will prove crucial.”

By Hafez’s predictions they will both take 13 points each, however on goal difference it means Manchester City will win the Premier League title.

If current trends continue, City’s experience and momentum should see them over the line—but only by the narrowest of margins.

In a season defined by fine details, the title may ultimately be decided by a single goal, a moment of brilliance, or one costly mistake.

One thing is certain: the Premier League trophy is still up for grabs, and the final weeks promise a finish worthy of the drama.
