DESPITE winning their first Premier League match this season last weekend, Southampton manager Russel Martin has said that his side still have a lot to improve on as they face bottom of the table Wolves tomorrow.
The Saint’s will be hoping to continue a change in form after back to back wins in the Carabao cup against Stoke City and a 1-0 win against Everton in the Premier League.
They currently sit in 19th place but will be hoping to carry on their ascent up the table when they come up against wolves on Saturday.
Speaking at the pre match press conference today, Martin said “Its the Premier League, it’s not easy.
“we have won two games, one in the cup one in the league, we had a good performance against Man City. But we’re still in a position we don’t want to be in.
“I don’t think I need to make that any clearer to the players. I think we work on us and the process we have which is to try and improve and we have lots to improve on.
“We have lots to be happy about over the past week but we also have lots to improve on. So we have to keep striving for improvement and growth in the team.”
Southampton’s record against their opponents this weekend might give Saints fans something to worry about, they have lost the past five Premier League matches against Wolves.
The Saints will be hoping to change their form in front of goal having only scored nine goals in the league, they come up against a side that has conceded at least two goals in nine of their 10 Premier League games this season.
