IN a day out at the football, families often enjoy running down to the side of the pitch so that the children can get their photos taken with the club mascot.
But not every mascot is as welcoming as they may hope! We took a look to find five of the strangest and scariest mascots in the beautiful game.
5. Bodger – Wycombe Wanderers

A tip of the hat to High Wycombe’s furniture making past, this Movember special outfit made Bodger look particularly creepy and not very welcoming to younger fans at all! The name Bodger comes from the clubs all time top goalscorer Tony Horseman’s nickname, who also used to work as a Wood Turner.
4. Goleo VI – World Cup 2006

Not too sure that the design came out as perfectly as the World Cup organisers thought for the tournament based in Germany. The creepy smile matched with the strange proportions of Goleo make him just a very unusual mascot.
3. ChivaFighter – Guadalajara

This is a truly terrifying looking mascot (left) who you wouldn’t want to mess with, let alone ask for a photo as a young fan. However I’m not sure whether it is a better choice than the club’s alternative model, China Loco (right).
2. Tiger – Criciúma

The South American side embodied their fighting attitude in this one, but maybe a step too far as even the opposition would be running scared from him as he waved their club flag around to stir up the crowd.
- Kingsley – Partick Thistle

What is that! Simply horrifying, something of nightmares…
