The journey towards becoming a professional footballer, with Eastleigh FC’s Tommy Scott

THE Spitfires goalkeeper signed for the club in the summer knowing that he would be understudy to Joe McDonnell.

His career has had it’s ups and downs, the 24-year-old represented Northern Ireland in U23’s Euros qualifiers whilst on the books at Southampton.

But then went on to be released by Saints before not being offered a contract by Portsmouth after an unsuccessful trial leading him to quit football for six months.

He then worked his way back up through the lower leagues to where he is now, full-time again with Eastleigh FC.

He has been on the bench for every league game so far this season and is hoping that he will get the nod at some point to make his first Vanarama National League appearance.

Although the Spitfires had a slow start to the season, Tommy is hopeful that they can be pushing for the play-off spots come the end of the season.
