Che Adams started the move with a lovely flick to Flynn Downes who then puts a great ball back into the Scotland internationals path who is able to cooly slot it into the bottom corner.

A ball goes into the box and a poor clearance from a Preston Defender gives the ball on a silver platter to Stuart Armstrong right on the edge of the box who is able to slot it into the corner of the net leaving the goalkeeper stood still standing in disbelief.


Stuart Armstrong has another great chance from outside of the box but this time the Preston Defender is able to get in the way and deflect it out for a corner.


Stuart Armstrong is loving his football today – he has another missile of a shot beat the keeper but it strikes in inside of the post and rolls along side the face of goal and somehow stays out.

A half time substitute for the Saints as Flynn Downes makes way for Shea Charles.


The second half has kicked off at St Marys.


Ryan Manning puts a lovely ball into the box and Che Adams fluffs what should be a easy finish off target but the striker is relieved to see the offside flag go up late.


Southampton are dominating possession and the result looks like a formality at this current moment.


Che Adams gets on a ball put into the box and brings it down with a lovely touch before putting his foot through the ball but a fantastic save from Freddie Woodman denies Adams his hat-trick.


A double change for the Saints as Will Smallbone and Joe Rothwell come on for Joseph Aribo and goal scorer Stuart Armstrong.


The ball drops to David Brooks in the box and it takes another fantastic save from Woodman to keep Southampton from getting their fourth of the night.


Che Adams comes off to a standing ovation at St Marys after scoring a brace and makes way for Samuel Edozie.


Another change for the home side as David Brooks comes off for Kamaldeen Sulemana.


Southampton have dropped the tempo in the last 10 minutes as they seem content to finish this game with the 3-0 scoreline.
