SOUTHAMPTON F.C.’s star man Tyler Dibling is rumoured to have attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
The 18-year-old has been a shining light for the Saints in what has been a tumultuous season to date, but could be tempted with a move away to the North London club with expectations of a first trophy in 17 years.
Currently sidelined with an ankle injury, the attacker has attracted keen interest from 15th place Spurs, who ideally wish to prize Dibling away from the south coast this month before the January transfer deadline.
Keen to get a deal across the line — Spurs reportedly may have to accept the permanent signing of Dibling may only be possible if Dibling is to remain at the Saints on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Spurs reporter Paul O’Keefe.
While a price tag for Dibling has not been formally announced, Southampton have previously made good money from selling players, notably with Romeo Lavia’s departure to Chelsea for £55million in 2023, as well as Virgil Van Dijk’s move from Southampton to Liverpool for a £75million fee.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has been in the firing line recently with poor results, having narrowly defeated Hoffenheim in the Europa League, but suffered damaging defeats away at Everton and at home to Leicester.
In a season of very little creativity, Dibling has given Saints hope despite being sat rock bottom of the Premier League as an outlet, with his 2 goals and excellent build-up play sparking attention.
At a crucial time in Ange Postecoglou’s tenure at Tottenham Hotspur, reinforcements are required and Dibling’s creativity could be a significant boost in bolstering Spurs’ attacking options and competing for a sought-after European spot.
