Southampton FC make huge recruitment change

SOUTHAMPTON FC have made a massive change in the recruitment department as they have made the decision to part ways with Head of Recruitment Darren Mowbray.

Mowbray, 47, joined the South Coast side last year in a move that saw him leave his post at Scottish Side Aberdeen FC.

His recruitment saw the Dons finish third in the Scottish Premier League, behind giants Celtic and Rangers,

He was brought in to assist Southampton’s recruitment under Jason Wilcox, ahead of their campaign in the Sky Bet Championship, which resulted in promotion via the playoffs.

However, their recruitment last summer ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign has so far failed to impress fans.

This season, Saints have really struggled on the pitch as they have so far only mustered up nine points from 29 games.

Under Mowbray, Southampton have made permanent signings like 20-year-old midfielder Mateus Fernandes, 25-year-old midfielder Flynn Downes and 22-year-old forward Cameron Archer.

Mowbray, who is the younger brother of West Brom manager Tony Mowbray, will now be searching for a new job within football.

The 47-year-old’s football recruitment CV includes previous senior roles with Burnley, Middlesbrough and Leeds.

Meanwhile, Southampton will search for a new face to take lead of their recruitment team ahead of what could be a difficult summer, as the club gear for a likely campaign in the second tier of English football.
