Southampton had to settle for just the one incoming on Deadline Day with 20 year old Nigerian Victor Udoh signing a permanent transfer from Royal Anterwerp in Belgium.
Udoh has penned a three-and-a-half year contract on the South coast and will initally link up with the clubs under-21 side.
The Nigerian was Saints’ only deadline day incoming as a deal for French centre back Abakar Sylla from Strasbourg fell through.
There was more action on the outgoing front as Gavin Bazunu joined Standard Liege with the Irish international goalkeeper needing minutes as he begins his comeback from a serious achillies tear that left him out injured for nearly a year.
Promising youngster Sam Amo-Ameyaw joined Strasbourg on loan for the rest of the 2024/25 season ahead of a permanent move in July.
The future of Adam Armstrong looms in the air as West Brom agreed to sign the striker and tried to secure his services before the 11PM deadline with a desicion set to be made Tuesday morning.
Will Smallbone and Cameron Archer failed to secure loan moves to the Championship with Middlesborough and Leeds respectively. Saints were reluctant to let players go without suitable replacements.
Perhaps the most important business Saints conducted in the winter window was keeping hold of Tyler Dibling with the 18 year old in demand from the likes of Tottenham and German outfit RB Leipizig throughout January.
