A new festival is set to replace the annual Varsity between Solent and Bournemouth University at the end of this month.
Varsity was founded in 2016, with Solent University and Bournemouth University battling it out to claim the bragging rights.
It was held over two days with indoor sports played at the Solent Sport Complex and outdoor sports played Chapel Gate in Bournemouth.
The decision was made earlier this year due to different sized sporting programmes at each university.

After this news, Solent have decided to create their own festival which will take place between the 30th April and the 4th of May.
There will be four different venues: Solent Sports Complex, The Spark, Test Park and The Outdoor Sports Centre.
Instead of playing against a specified university, teams will have a choice of who they would like to play. This has been introduced to try and keep teams’ morale as high as possible. In recent years, Bournemouth have won the vast majority of events which has taken the fun away for many sports people.
