Saturday 3rd February

Imperial Homes Stadium

15:00 kick off

Sholing 0-0 Beaconsfield Town

Sholing failed to put away their chances as they were held to a stalemate by Beaconsfield Town.

The hosts started slow as the first chance went to the visitors with Jake Gosling finding space inside the Sholing penalty area but his shot was tame and Ryan Gosney easily saved.

With the visitors continuing their pressure, they could not really create a chance and 11 minutes in, Sholing had their first shot as in-form striker Dan Mason let fly from distance but a deflection took the ball narrowly wide.

16 minutes in, Sholing started playing some intricate football as Jake Hesketh slotted through club legend Lee Wort on his home return, but the flag was raised just as Wort struck goalwards.

With the game being a scrappy one, chances were difficult to come by, however on the half hour mark, Wort had a great chance to put Sholing ahead, but the visiting keeper was equal to it and his defenders swooped up the follow up to clear.

With around 10 minutes left of the first half, the away side had a huge chance as they looked to take the lead, but Tom McElroy took too long and Sholing cleared their lines.

The visitors then won a free-kick in a promising position but Josh Payne fired over.

A minute after, Sholing defender Owen Roundell tried to play a pass back to his keeper who slipped and the ball flashed past the keeper but hit the side netting.

In the second half, the visitors started better again but it was Sholing with the first chance as Alex Macallister fired just wide.

In the 53rd minute, McElroy, again causing problems for the hosts, fired a shot towards goal which Gosney did excellently to keep out through a flying save.

Up the other end, some good football between Hesketh and Brad Targett led to a chance for Targett to curl goalwards but the ball just fizzed wide.

Targett was involved again then made a crucial challenge to keep the away side at bay.

With 15 minutes left, the hosts had a great chance as Wort went past the Visiting keeper and struck goalwards which was blocked and fell to Mason who could not convert.

Into the last 10 minutes and the game was really stretched and both teams could win it and a corner for the away side found the head of Ada Okorogheye but he could only head into the ground and over.

The hosts escaped and had a chance of their own in the 86th minute as substitute Luka Chalwell had a strike which was saved and his follow up was blocked for a corner.

Neither team could find the goal and the game ended in a goalless draw, with the result leaving Sholing in 12th and the away side in 15th.
