NORWICH City centre half Grant Hanley has pulled out the Scotland squad for the upcoming international friendlies.
The veteran centre half will miss the matches against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland.
Hanley was originally recalled to the squad after recently returning from an Achilles injury, which he suffered back in April last year.
Despite featuring eight times this season, he hobbled off against Middlesborough earlier in the month, now taking the decision to rest further.
Although it’s a big blow for Scotland, they still have strong depth at the back, the likes of Scott McKenna and Liam Cooper both featuring in the squad.
Steve Clarks side will travel to Amsterdam on Friday, before hosting Northern Ireland at Hampden Park four days later.
They’ll then complete their Euro 2024 preparations with friendlies against Gibraltar and Finland in June before kicking off the tournament against hosts Germany.
They’ll be hopeful to have Hanley back in the squad and up to speed, by the time the tournament kicks off.
