Saints travel to the Bridge

London is calling for the bottom of the league, saints as they travel for a clash against out of form Chelsea.

With Southampton 13 points away from safety, the hosts will be looking to regain their form from the start of the season.

Both sides come into this game on the back of losses, with Chelsea losing 2-1 at Aston Villa after being 1-0 early on.

As for the saints, they lost at home again.

Fellow south coaster Brighton came to St Mary’s and put four past the crumbling Southampton defence.

Chelsea sit just a point off of 4th position, however if the blues fail to win it would see Enzo Maresca’s side go three games without a win.

Chelsea’s goalkeeper issues continued at the weekend, when newly confirmed number one Filip Jorgensen split a Marco Asensio strike, to carry on the blues woes.

Team News:

Trevoh Chalobah was withdrawn at Villa Park and is likely to miss Chelsea’s next two games, while  fellow defenders Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile are still sidelined. Tosin Adarabioyo is set to come in for Maresca’s side.

As for the Saints, Jan Bednarek was forced off in Saturday’s defeat to Brighton and is a doubt for the trip to west London. Armel Bella-Kotchap is poised to make his first start of the season, with boss Ivan Juric short of options.

Summary:

The challenge between the sides is likely to end in a blues win. Despite a fairly positive start to Juric’s reign in the south coast city, the side have seemingly gone back to their old form and manner.

Prediction:

I can only see this game going one way, with a comfortable Chelsea win, adding to Southampton’s misery.

3-0 Chelsea.
