RYAN Fraser wants to stay beyond his loan at Southampton after joining on a year long loan from Newcastle in the Summer.

Fraser only featured for Newcastle last season eight times with the winger getting demoted to the under 21s and was not likely to feature for the senior team again, his exit from Newcastle was imminent.

After joining in summer, Fraser has made his mark in Southampton and claims ‘he wants to stay’.

Fraser said: “At the end of the season, hopefully, I can stay.

“That’s my main goal, to stay at the club, but there are little goals to try to get there. First and foremost my aim is to help the club get promoted, and it would be nice (to stay).”

The 29-year-old helped Southampton collect all three points after their trip to Hull Saturday, he came on as a substitute in the 84th minute and scored the winner in the 95th minute in added time.

After being demoted to the under 21s at Newcastle, Fraser is enjoying his football again and admitted his admiration for the club.

“I love it here, I love coming in every day, loving football again is nice. I try to gain as much each time I come in and I try and wear the badge with as much pride as I can.”
