NEW Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was arrested on Monday for reckless driving in Louisiana.

He was reportedly fully cooperative with law enforcement throughout the situation.

The charge has been classed as a misdemeanour, equivalent to a summary offence in the UK.

Summary offenders are likely to get a minor punishment for their crime, which could include a suspension from driving.

The Saints said they were aware of their player’s situation but had no comment to make.

Olave, 23, is in his second season in New Orleans after he was drafted by the organisation in the first round of the NFL draft last year.

The wide receiver currently leads the team in receiving yards after he notched 471 yards in seven games.

The 23-year-old managed to tally over 1,000 yards in his rookie campaign last term and hopes to replicate that again this season.

The Saints are currently third in the NFC South with a record of three wins to four losses.

The Black and Gold team were recently beaten in Jacksonville 31-24 by the Jaguars, who currently sit at the top of the AFC South.

Dennis Allen’s side will host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in what is expected to be a close matchup.
