GERYWN Price has withdrawn from Aberdeen’s night of 14 of the Premier League of Darts with a back injury.
Price will now no longer be able to qualify for the playoffs after receiving no points from this week, leaving him 12 points adrift with a maximum of 10 left to gain.
The Welshman hasn’t competed since last weeks Premier League night in Liverpool, after pulling out of the weekend’s Austrian Darts Open complaining of a trapped nerve.
His withdrawal could put next week’s Players Championship entry in Hildesheim in doubt, before returning to Premier League action for Night 15 in Leeds.
Price is yet to win a PDC event in 2024 with only one final appearance in a Euro Tour defeat against Martin Schindler.
Price has only reached two nightly finals, failing to win either, in what statistically is his worst Premier League campaign.
In true Gerwyn Price fashion, despite a poor season, he has still managed to hit a nine darter on a Premier League stage, in his night 10 semi-final victory against Michael Smith.
Price was due to play Luke Humphries in QF tonight, the PDC have announced the Humphries will receive a Bye directly into the Semi-Final. Humphries will only gain +1 in leg difference, with Price being deducted 6 legs.
