S.L. Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni has been handed a six-game ban by UEFA for homophobic conduct during a Champions League knockout play-off against Real Madrid in February.
The game, played at the Estadio da Luz, was stopped for around 10 minutes after Real forward Vinicius Junior accused Prestianni of racially abusing him.
Prestianni, 20, denied making any racist remark and claimed Vinicius had misheard what was said. However, Real midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni later stated that the Benfica player admitted he had instead directed a homophobic comment at the Brazilian.
The Argentina international has already served a provisional one-match suspension, meaning he will now miss two further games, while the remaining three matches of the ban have been suspended for a period of two years.
