AL HILAL have extended their lead at the top of the Roshn Saudi League to three points over second place Al Ittihad.
The current RSL title holders went into their game against Al Wehda only ahead of Al Ittihad only on goal difference. Al Hilal started the game exactly how they would have hoped at Kingdom Arena with an early goal from Leonardo.
The striker latched onto to a ball spilt by Abdullah Al Owaishir in the Al Wehda goal to put his side ahead.
Al Hilal soon doubled their lead in the 11th minute with Malcom getting on the ball after some brilliant link up play before calmly slotting the ball in the bottom corner.
Four minutes later Al Hilal hit the post, Al Dowsari’s half volley hit the woodwork with Al Wehda’s defense working on overtime trying to not replicate a scoreline like Al Fateh.
Al Hilal wrapped up the game in the 82nd minute, Malcom latched onto a brilliant cross from Ruben Neves to give Al Hilal their third and secure all 3 points.
Al Wehda did get a goal, Craig Goodwin’s free kick looked simple enough but it evaded everyone in the box and found its way into the bottom corner.
Al Wehda’s goal didn’t dampen the joy of the 20000 Al Hilal fans with Mexican waves going round the stadium, just as Al Hamdan curled a shot perfectly into the top right corner to give the host’s a fourth.
Al Hilal are now 3 points clear at the top with a superior goal difference to Al Ittihad which may be crucial in the final run in.
