Left-arm spinner Danny Briggs returns to Hampshire for Global Super League

HAMPSHIRE Hawks have announced the loan signing of Danny Briggs from Warwickshire for the Global Super League

Briggs, who is the leading wicket taker in T20 blast history, left Hampshire in 2015 after taking 119 wickets in 94 appearances.

Since then, the 33-year-old has had a rich career, playing for Sussex and Warwickshire in county cricket whilst also making his mark in franchise leagues, turning out for the Southern Brave in The Hundred and the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League.

After making his debut for the Hawks in 2009, Briggs played a key role in securing three white-ball trophies for the club and now, as he rejoins the club, he’ll be aiming to add a fourth to his collection.

“It’s a nice feeling to come back to my home club and take part in the Global Super League.

“It was great to be back in the Utilita Bowl dressing room with Southern Brave this year, playing alongside a few of the guys when I first played for Hampshire, and I’m really looking forward to helping the club hopefully bring some silverware back from Guyana.” He said, speaking to the club after signing.

With club captain James Vince unavailable, Danny Briggs will join up with stand-in captain Chris Wood and the rest of the Hampshire Hawks squad in Guyana for the competition’s opening match on November 27.
