Inter Milan cruise to the Italian Super Cup final

Inter Milan convincingly beat Atalanta 2-0 in the Italian Super Cup Semi Final.

Milan showed their class early on and should have gone one up within 25 seconds having squandered 3 chances.

A great stop from Carnesecchi denied Martinez’s strong header in the 9th min with Inter having dominated early on.

Once again it was Carnesecchi saving Atalanta, a fine double save denied Martinez and then Dimarco’s rebounded shot to keep the scores level.

A professional foul from Scalvini was the first booking of the game in the 28th minute as he prevented what was developing into a 1 on 1 counter attack.

Atalanta looked to be in first gear the entire first half and were extremely fortunate to go into the break at 0-0.

In the second half the Dumfries show began in the second half, opening the scoring in the 49th minute with a bicycle kick from a corner routine.

Atalanta looked all but out, because they were when Dumfries double Inters lead in the 61st minute with a lovely taken first time finish from the edge of the area.

All hope wasn’t lost for Atalanta though as they managed to pull a goal back in the 71st minute, however all good thing do not last as after a 3 minute VAR check the goal was eventually disallowed.

Inter Milan held on to their 2-0 lead to make it through to Monday nights final against either Juventus or AC Milan.
