From Journeyman Striker to Mentor: Frank Nouble’s Dual Role at Yeovil Town

Football has seen its fair share of journeymen, but Yeovil Town’s Frank Nouble might just be one of the most well-traveled. Having played for 21 different clubs across his career—including a stint in China with Tianjin Songjiang—his footballing journey is nothing short of remarkable.

Over the years, Nouble has been on the books at West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Swindon Town, Swansea City, Barnsley, Charlton Athletic, Gillingham, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ipswich Town, Coventry City, Tianjin Songjiang, Nei Mongol Zhongyou, Southend United, Newport County, Colchester United, Plymouth Argyle, Leyton Orient, Torquay United, and now Yeovil Town.

While he leads the line for Yeovil on Saturday afternoons, his Sundays are far from a day of rest. Instead of unwinding after a match, Nouble dedicates his time to coaching young Yeovil Town supporters, helping them develop their skills and love for the game.

Recognizing the value of his experience, he aims to pass on his knowledge to the next generation. “I haven’t just played professionally; I also came through Chelsea’s academy, so I understand how the system works,” he explained, emphasizing his well-rounded understanding of the game.

Beyond tactics and technique, Nouble has formed a strong personal bond with the young players he coaches, something he finds incredibly rewarding.

“These kids now see me as one of their best friends, which is great. If I can be even one of their idols, it’ll help them learn because they watch me play for their team and then train with me afterward.”

His passion for coaching has grown to the point where he now sees it as part of his long-term future. This summer, he plans to earn his UEFA B coaching license, a key step that could allow him to work at the professional level as an assistant manager.

For Nouble, football has always been about more than just playing—it’s about giving back to the game that shaped him. Whether leading the attack for Yeovil or inspiring young players on a Sunday morning, he is determined to make a lasting impact.

With his coaching ambitions now taking shape, the next step in his football journey may be just beginning.
