Four of the Most Exciting WSL Players

WOMEN’S football is still on the rise, with the Women’s Super League attracting more viewers than ever before.

After watching the entertaining 5-0 win Arsenal recorded over rivals Spurs, I couldn’t help but think the sport that so many people love in the male format is just as loveable when watching the females do it, too.

For people who question the entertainment value, here are four of the best WSL players that will bring you all the joy you need when watching.

Lauren James

After scoring her first goal since returning from injury on the weekend, Chelsea’s Lauren James is ready to hit the same levels she did last season, when she scored 13 in 16 league games.

In the typical football world she is largely known for being Reece James’ sister, although her tricky skills on the wing make her a world-class player in her own right.

Khadija Shaw

Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw is currently the top scorer in the WSL this season with 11 goals, and is expected to win the golden boot two years in a row.

Her top class finishing with either foot and unbelievable aerial presence lead her to a 21 goal season in 2023-24.

That was EIGHT more than second place achieved.

Guro Reiten

It’s impossible to make a WSL player ranking without having multiple Chelsea players high up the list – they are running away with the title again!

The Norwegian winger Guro Reiten is playing her sixth season with the Blues, terrifying fullbacks once again with her immense pace and dribbling.

Mariona Caldentey

You are definitely quite good at football if you played over 200 games for Barcelona and play 82 times for Spain

Mariona Caldentey, simply known as ‘Mariona’, is a typical Spanish player, a technical dribbler who uses silky touches under pressure.

She has won three Champions League titles, and will look to give her current team, Arsenal, all her experience so that they can do the same.
