SANCHEZ becomes the first ever American to wear the Solent Redhawks jersey after the Californian joins up with the squad for the new season ahead.
After a disappointing season last year the Redhawks will be looking once again to win Division 2 and gain promotion back to the top league once again.
After two wins, one draw and two losses the Redhawks last season will be hoping to go one higher than their third place finish, narrowly missing out of the play-offs by one point.
Redhawks feel that the addition of Sanchez can help push the team forward and get over the line for promotion.
Offensive co-ordinator and quarterback coach Luke Anthony Da-Costa claims having someone with previous experience can help push the Redhawks that little bit further.
He said: “Anytime you get an American player no matter the level it is exciting, because they have played the sport before.”
“Whether that be in their back garden or even down the beach, they just know how to move with the ball how to spin it better than generally most British guys.”
Despite the excitement around Sanchez’s arrival Coach Da-Costa knows there is still areas to improve for their new star man.
“We worked on his footwork a little bit to try and improve that to get him snapping his hips round a little bit more to get him to places he needs to be to the ball out of his hands and into his players so we can have success on the field.”
Sanchez however is excited and ready to start after moving over here.
He said: “I want to go in there and throw the ball, I want to score touchdowns”
The Redhawks play Surrey Stingers this Sunday with both Sanchez and the rest of the team looking to get off the best start in order to push for promotion to Division 1 after a 6 year absence.
