Eastleigh FC missed a chance to get into the play-off places in a competitive 1-0 loss to Woking at the Silverlake Stadium.
Dennon Lewis’ stoppage-time goal in the 46th minute made the difference under the lights, with the ex-Love Islander winning Woking their first league game in three.
With 36% of the National League season played, the Spitfires are still sniffing around the top seven who go into the play-offs, just four points away in 9th place.
They are now only one spot above Woking, who fired their way from 13th into 10th with the win.
The away side started strong and had a chance just five minutes into the game through Morgan Williams, who dragged his shot wide when the ball dropped to him near the penalty spot.
It took Eastleigh 24 minutes to settle into the fixture and Scott Quigley almost drew first blood from the Cards with a shot from outside of the box that sailed over the bar.
Minutes later, Enzio Boldewijin whipped the ball into Paul McCallum, who won the header inside of the box but sent the ball wide.
Woking ended up taking the lead through a clinical counter-attack which started with a brilliant through ball from Rhys Browne.
The pass played Lewis in on goal, and the 26-year-old striker made no mistake one-on-one when he slotted the ball underneath Joe McDonnell.
A cagey second half did see the Spitfires step up their efforts, but the game was slowed by fouls and offside calls that did not help Eastleigh in their attempts to build momentum.
McDonnell kept the home side in the match when he palmed away a low strike from Browne in the 80th minute.
Eastleigh’s Quigley had two chances to equalise in the eight minutes of stoppage time added on to the second half, with his first being a narrow miss from a tight-angled header off a corner.
He had another aerial effort minutes later, but he nodded it straight to the Woking keeper for an easy save to finish off the fixture.
