AL HILAL beat Al Shabab 1-0 in the Saudi Women’s Premier League at the Inaya Medical College Stadium on Saturday.
It was the away team who started the game strongest, a free kick in the 3rd minute from Nataša Andonova was hit just over the bar from 25 yards out.
Shabab’s early pressure continued with a lovely through ball to Bandari Mobarak, who snuck into the box but was unable to convert the shot from a tight angle.
Shabab were dominating until the 40th minute, when Martinez’s shot from the edge of the box went straight over the head of Al-Qahtani to give Al Hilal an early lead.
Al Hilal looked to double their lead after half time, Martinez’s free kick from the edge of the area was close to doing so, the shot hitting the outside of the woodwork.
Hilal thought they had a second goal, when Salihi lofted the ball over the top of Al-Qahtani who was in no man’s land, however the assitant referee’s flag came to the rescue of Al Shabab.
Al Shabab’s pushed for an equaliser, but it wasn’t enough as Al Hilal held on to win the game 1-0. The result moves Al Hilal to 5th in the league.
