A man who took part in an MMA fundraiser has raised £470 for a children’s cancer charity in Southampton.
Local fighter Dale Smith who fought in the fundraiser was raising money for Abby’s Heroes Charity who help to support family’s who are dealing with the harsh realities of childhood cancer.
Dale raised £470 for the charity from the fight as part of his JustGiving page which he set up to raise the money.
Dale said:
“The reason for Abby’s Heroes is because my family has done a lot of charity work for them, my Dad has cycled to Paris for them and they sponsor my football team. They are such an amazing charity with what they do for children with cancer, so it was a no brainer to choose them.”

Abby’s Heroes was set up in November 2016 six months after founder Sally Randall sadly lost her daughter in her battle with cancer to help families who are in the same position as she was.
The charity provide a range of programmes for families who’s children are receiving cancer treatment at University Hospital Southampton.
The work done by the charity is vital in helping the well-being and emotional health of families who are trying to process their child’s condition.
SportsHub spoke with Sally on the importance of fundraising events for the Charity:
“We are nothing without fundraisers, we simply cannot do what we’re able to do for families without the support of people like Dale, his family have a strong condition in raising money for Abby’s Heroes”.

The sport has grown extensively over the last five to ten years in participation and viewership which has led to charity events such as this to become possible for companies like Ultra MMA.
