SOUTHAMPTON Hockey Club (SHC) will be looking to gain promotion this season following an unbeaten start in the league.
Southampton will look to push on for promotion from the South Central Men’s Division 3 South come the end of the season. So far they are five games in and haven’t lost a game.
For this season they hired the services of former England Masters coach Alastair Birch, who previously coached the club’s Ladies First Team, as recent as last season.
He has been focused on the player’s fitness and making sure they are up to match pace and ready for any scenario that may attack them.
The side currently have a record of four wins and one draw and sit second in the table, just two points adrift of Bournemouth 3s at the top.
Although they remain unbeaten, SHC have not been hitting full stride in every outing with mixed performances in terms of the standards the side set themselves.
Manager David Rigby said: “We are still fighting, we have four wins and one draw. It’s a great start to the season.”
Mens First Team captain Sam Bilcock is worried about a few injurys but is hoping the boys will keep up the form.
“We have a few injurys to manage but we need to keep putting into practice what we do on a Wednesday and take it into a Saturday.”
