Michael Olise sees red as Viking secure historic draw

NORWEGIAN champions Viking came from behind as they salvaged a historic draw against German giants Bayern Munich.

Bayern turned the game on its head as they came from 2-0 down to be leading 3-2 within 17 minutes in the second half.

French starlet Michael Olise then received two yellow cards in 30 seconds, one for throwing the ball in to a player’s face, which put the six-time European winners on the back foot.

Seeing Bayern down to 10 men gave Viking renewed hope as they pushed for an equaliser, which they got in the 90th minute through Herman Haugen.

Haugen’s header sent the Viking fans in to bedlam as they saw their team secure a historic point, who are playing in Europe’s top competition for the first time since 1992.

“I could’ve played another 90 minutes. I’m so incredibly proud. I’ve waited 34 years for this,” Viking captain Zlatko Tripic told Norwegian channel Tv2.

A brace from Harry Kane got Bayern back on level terms before Luis Diaz tapped in at the back post with just less than 20 minutes to play in the game.

Kane has now scored in nine consecutive Champions League games, a feat that only Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo have achieved.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany said: “It was our own fault. This red card was super dumb… you can see in (Michael’s) eyes that he’s sorry and that he regrets letting the team down.”

Bayern will now be without Olise when they host Arsenal on 21st October, whilst Viking travel to Aston Villa on the same night.
