Viking stun Bayern Munich to get dream European point

NINE time Norweigan league winners Viking FK stunned Europe last night after battling to a 3-3 draw with heavy weights Bayern Munich.

Viking continue their trend of iconic European nights as they are no stranger to upsetting Europe’s ‘big boys’.

Back in 2002 Viking stunned Chelsea with a late goal in a 4-2 win, sending the Londoners out of what was then UEFA Cup in the first round.

It was academy graduate Herman Haugen that became the Norweigan sides unlikely hero this time around after the right back leapt highest at the backpost, heading back across goal and dragging his side level in the dying seconds of the 90.

Viking captain Zlatko Tripic was thrilled with how his side played after the game, telling BBC Sport: “I think we played an incredibly solid match. We used everything we had. I’m just so unbelievably happy.”

In spite of a disappointing result Bayern striker Harry Kane will still have something to celebrate, as he surpassed Lionel Messi and became the player to have scored the most goals in the Champions League after turning 30.

Kane is also on track to match or beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of scoring in 11 successive Champions league games, as the Englishman has currently smashed in goals in nine European nights in a row.
