John Stones Man City future lies up in the air

MANCHESTER CITY centre back John Stones future at the club remains up in the air, with his contract running out this summer.

Highly regarded Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano posted the news on X yesterday evening.

He said “John Stones, expected to leave Manchester City in the summer as free agent.”

“The 31 year old defender is prepared for new chapter in the summer after making history at Manchester City.” Most notably winning the European treble in 2023.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was questioned in a press conference today about the rumours to which he responded.

“No. The only thing I can say is he is back training with us and this is the best news.”

The return of the England star will be a big bolster for the squad, as they look to win the league for the ninth time. The Citizens beat Arsenal on the weekend 2-1, curtesy of goals from Rayan Cherki, and Erling Haaland.

The result puts them 3 points behind the Gunners with a game in hand which can see them leapfrog into the lead.

With only 6 games left for the Sky Blues they travel to Turf Moor on Wednesday in a game which Pep says they cannot afford to drop points.

“Both teams know what happened in the past. Both teams know they cannot lose or drop points. It will be difficult to recover.”
