WINNER TAKES ALL to return to the EFL

THIS weekend sees the final of 46 league matches to be played in the Enterprise National League.

All three National League divisions have been competitive as ever towards the top as the titles in each still are yet to be decided.

In the National League there is a straight out winner takes all match-up. Rochdale host York City where stakes couldn’t be higher. The hosts sit on 105 points whereas the travelling Minstermen have 107.

Rochdale must beat York City to return back to League Two after a three year absence. York would only need to get a draw to guarantee the title and League Two football for the first time since 2016.

This title fight is more of a reason for the National League’s 3up campaign. There is a chance that one of these teams do not get promoted due to the singular automatic promotion spot.

A team who have been promoted from the National League has never come straight back down from League Two, showcasing that there isn’t as big of a divide as once thought.

Just within the last few season teams have gone on to do more, Wrexham now pushing for a Championship play-off position, Stockport challenging for promotion from League One and Bromley winning promotion to the third tier and a chance of being champions.

The top seven in the league is determined. Carlisle, Boreham Wood, Scunthorpe, Southend and Forest Green as well as either York or Rochdale will be fighting for promotion.

There is so much to play for still in the regional divisions. Fylde have a 2-point advantage over South Shields going into the last game to be crowned champions of the North.

The team at the top travel to Merthyr who sit just outside the playoffs on goal difference who will need to get at least a point to have a chance at the play-offs.

South Shields also have a tough fixture, against third in the league Kidderminster Harriers who have won their last five. Fylde, South Shields, Kidderminster and Macclesfield all are guaranteed at least a play-off position.

Scarborough, Chester, Buxton, Merthyr, Darlington and Spennymoor will be battling out for the last three spots in the top seven.

A Hereford victory against Marine tonight could mean that seven possible teams could be relegated on Saturday.

Leamington and Peterborough Sports have their fate sealed already with any two from Hereford, Alfreton, Curzon Ashton, King’s Lynn, Bedford, Oxford City and Chorley being relegated IF Hereford win tonight.

If Hereford lose that seven will go down to four with the latter three being mathematically safe.

In the South, a possible four sides could win promotion on Saturday. Worthing lead the way on 81 points, with Hornchurch (80), Dorking (78) and Hemel Hempstead (78) chasing the Rebels.

Despite Dorking and Hemel having the chance at winning the league, they could also both not qualify for the play-offs.

Torquay (77), Ebbsfleet (77), Weston-Super-Mare (77), Maidenhead (76) and Maidstone (74) are all looking to get a play-off position.

The last day sees some tasty ties, Hornchurch host Maidenhead who sit in eighth, Weston hosts an out of form Dorking Wanderers and Worthing hosts Ebbsfleet.
