Non-League club announce nine new players in one day

CHRISTCHURCH FC have seen an enormous amount of turnover following 1st team manager Wayne Crutcher’s departure on the 16th February and 10 players leaving in the following weeks.

The Church responded with nine new players announced on the 26th March bolstering the squad to make up the numbers.

Prior to this, match day squads were littered with youth players and empty benches.

To replace Crutcher first team player Brad Gale took the reigns as interim player manager.

Whilst speaking on the massive turnover, Gale laid out the difficulties of the situation:

“It’s hard to lose 10 players this late in the season.

“Momentum dies off but I think the new lads have done really well.

“Essentially we’ve brought in a new squad and only had 3 training sessions.”

The massive turnover in personnel has certainly not aided Christchurch on the pitch with just 1 win in 16 since the departure of Crutcher.

Whilst Christchurch is an extreme case the turnover, in non-league it is common with pay as you play deals not tying down players or coaches.

With Christchurch’s security in the Wessex Premier Division secure for next season they will look to steady the ship and stabilise next season.
