FOR the first time ever, the UK will host the opening round of the World Ocean Series.
Fistral beach in Newquay, Cornwall, will host round one on 27th June, which will also be round two of the GB Surf Series.
Last year saw the UK host the World Ocean Series for the first time, as the competition left Australian and New Zealand shores for the first time.
The World Ocean Series is a Surf lifesaving event, showcasing swim, board and ski races.
Followed by an iron, which is the three disciplines combined, similar to a triathlon.
The series boasts over one million AUD in prize money, which spans across nine months in five countries.
Olympic champions such as Lani Pallister and Tom Green compete regularly in the series, as near 80% of the seasons races are competed in Australia.
Round two of the 2026/27 series will head to Hossegor, France, then onto Warnemunde in Germany for round three.
Racing will conclude in February of 2027 in Surfers Paradise on Australia’s Gold Coast for the World Ocean Series.
The expansion of the World Ocean Series, is all part of lifesaving’s bid to be included in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, as the sport looks to show its competitiveness on a global scale.
