Bolton left it late in order to rescue a point against Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Tuesday Evening in League One.
It was a top end of the table clash between the two sides, with Bolton looking to make a late push for automatic promotion spots, whilst Reading were hoping to make the jump into the playoff positions.
Reading took the lead in the 36th minute through the league top goalscorer Jack Marriot, who was played in down the right hand side by Charlie Savage. Marriot was able to continue his run down the right into the penalty area before shooting high with power into the roof of the net.
Bolton would get their equaliser in the dying moments of the game through Hull City loanee Mason Burstow. The goal came from the corner delivery by Ruben Rodrigues to the backpost, before being headed across goal with Burstow there to tap it home.
Chances were few and far between, with John Kenny having a chance to open the scoring inside the first five minutes, but his effort was saved comfortably by Joel Pereira.
Liam Fraser came close for Reading in the fifteenth minute, blazing an edge of the box shot over the bar. Kamari Doyle would also have an attempt for the Royals ten minutes later down the right hand side, but couldn’t keep it down.
The second half had plenty of chances for Bolton, with Ibrahim Cissokko and Max Conway both having shots from the left hand side, but unable to trouble the keeper.
The Wanderers also had a big chance through Corey Blackett-Taylor, after a cross from Rob Apter found Blackett-Taylor free at the back post, with the winger scuffing his volley into the side netting.
Reading looked to be heading into the playoff positions, but Burstow got his goal after coming off the bench, and ensured that the points were shared at the Select Car Leasing stadium.
