Romeu returns and makes second debut for Saints

Romeu pointing to spot for other player to stand in

Oriol Romeu made his return to the pitch for Southampton for the first time since leaving in the summer of 2022.

Following his re-signing in early November, Saints fans have been long awaiting his return following his absence due to lack of fitness.

In his first stint he became a fan favourite for many fans and people where sad to see him leave leaving a bitter taste in supporters’ mouth as he was such a vital player for the club.

For a long time, fans have been calling for experienced players to be in the squad and this is the statement signing to say here you are.

With the return of Romeu does this open the door for other old player to return to the clubs?

His first steps back on the pitch started in the 76th minute as he came on as a sub for academy graduate Cameron Bragg with the score at 1-1.

Romeu left Barcelona this summer with hopes to help the club he loved as a young boy as they find themselves in struggled times with money.

With this it meant they wasn’t able to sign any players on through the league leaving a lot of players without playtime and continues frustration.

He then went and watched Southampton train during their training camp in Spain and started to work on his fitness.

Could this start the revival of the saints and will they push for promotion?
