Who to manage in FM26 according to our journalist/mega-fans

THE saying goes ‘If you can’t be a pro football manager, then get play FM’ and we have scoured the newsroom to ask our journalists which team you should pick as your first save on the new Football Manager 26 game.

Released the new football manager game in November and as we begin to rack up our play hours so should you, but don’t be boring and pick a giant like Nottingham Forest or Liverpool to play as.

Nathan’s pick – Como – Italian Serie A

Picture this, it’s the international break and you can spend your virtual free time relaxing next to a beautiful Italian lake. Como are flying with Cesc Fabregas in real life but can you take advantage of their young talent and financial backing to keep the club on the rise.

Owen’s pick – Reading FC – League One

The Berkshire side have been through a tough time but now that Dai Yongge has departed RG40 but with a squad of young and promising talent and one of the best ranked academies in the game, there is room to grow and return the Royals to the Championship.

Beau’s pick – Strasbourg – Ligue 1

Affiliated to Chelsea FC, this link could provide a great experiment for an FM save. Liam Rosenier is doing  a great job in real life but if you take advantage of the loans/deals available, this would be a fun one especially for new players to the game.

Jasper’s pick – Sampdoria – Serie B

The Italian side are in a mess and in real life in the bottom 3 of the second division, having had a historic fall from grace. They have a squad capable of competing but will you be the one to turn their fortunes around and return the club to the top flight.

Will’s pick – Crystal Palace – Premier League

A club on the rise, take charge of the clubs first ever European football campaign and use the club’s potential-filled squad to make a long-term project at Selhurst Park and become a legend in your own right. Make sure Steve Parish checks his emails though!
